The Senate Economic Affairs Committee is analyzing this Tuesday (16) the inclusion of electronic sports, or e-Sports, in the list of beneficiaries of federal lottery revenues. The bill proposes allocating 0.04% of the total lottery revenue to this sector, in addition to integrating the Brazilian Confederation of Games and e-Sports into the National Sports System.
e-Sports are virtual game competitions where players compete in official tournaments, both in cooperative and non-cooperative modes. According to the proposal, the funds allocated to e-Sports will be used exclusively for sports support programs, athlete training, participation in sports events, and administrative expenses.
Currently, a portion of the revenue collected from lottery games is passed on to the federal government and invested in areas such as health, education, security, and sports. Last year, R$ 391 million was allocated to the Brazilian Olympic Committee.
In addition to benefiting e-Sports, the bill also suggests increasing the percentage of lottery revenue allocated to sports in general, from 4.36% to 4.4%. This increase aims to develop, promote, and encourage the practice of electronic sports in Brazil.
The committee's analysis is an important step towards including e-Sports in the list of federal lottery beneficiaries, recognizing the growing importance of these competitions in the national and international sports scene. If approved, the project could provide a significant boost for the development of e-Sports in the country, offering better training conditions and participation in international events for virtual athletes.
The committee's decision is eagerly awaited by e-Sports enthusiasts and professionals, who see the measure as an opportunity for growth and greater recognition for the sector.
