The Chamber of Deputies is currently analyzing Bill 2105/24, which aims to create the Mega da Virada dos Gaúchos. With the draw scheduled for September 20, when Gaúcho Day is celebrated. All proceeds from this lottery will be exclusively allocated to Rio Grande do Sul and distributed as follows:
20% to rebuild and re-equip schools;
20% to rebuild and re-equip hospitals;
20% to rebuild roads;
20% to rebuild and re-equip public services and buildings;
20% to assist evacuees, preferably children and the elderly.
The funds raised, after deduction of taxes and operational costs, will be used to purchase materials and equipment necessary to address the state of public calamity caused by the floods. Additionally, unclaimed prizes within the stipulated period will be reverted to the state, as outlined in the project.
Deputy Mauricio Neves (PP-SP), the bill's author, emphasizes the project's importance in aiding Rio Grande do Sul in recovering from the damages caused by the floods that began in April. The project still awaits approval from the Tourism, Finance and Taxation, Constitution and Justice committees, and the Senate.
The Mega da Virada dos Gaúchos emerges as a creative and beneficial initiative, allowing the population to participate in a lottery that not only offers prizes but also directly contributes to the reconstruction of areas affected by natural disasters.
