A man had the luck to win the lottery, receiving a prize of one million euros, approximately R$ 6 million. However, his decision to share the money with five close people, including his daughter, was motivated by an unusual event.
Tony Frater, a 69-year-old retiree, was listening to ABBA's "Money, Money, Money" on the radio when a power outage caused his doorbell to ring for no apparent reason. He explained that five brief power interruptions caused the wireless doorbell to ring every time the power was restored, even though no one was at the door.
Taking this as a sign, Tony decided to buy a lottery ticket, believing that the unusual events indicated that luck was on his side. He became the newest millionaire in Staplehurst, England, after winning the draw.
After hearing five doorbell rings, Tony chose to share the prize with four neighbors and his daughter. Despite the split, he still ended up with approximately 167,000 euros, about R$ 1,050,000.
When asked about his plans for the money, Tony mentioned that he plans to celebrate his 70th birthday with his wife Sharon and his brother Marcus. They are all retired and hope to be able to enjoy things without financial worries. "We're all retired and we'll be able to do things without worrying. Safety is the most important thing," Tony said.
