An employee of a lottery in Taguatinga, Federal District, confessed to stealing a winning Mega-Sena ticket, causing a loss of R$ 34,000 to the victim. The incident, which occurred on January 13, is under investigation by the Civil Police of the Federal District, which aims to clarify all details of the crime.

The fraud began when the 44-year-old victim handed over her ticket for verification. The employee claimed that the ticket was not a winner and suggested tearing it up, a common procedure for non-winning bets. However, instead of discarding it, she hid part of the ticket in her pocket.

Suspicious, the victim checked the numbers of her bet on the official Mega-Sena website at home and discovered she had won R$ 34,000 by hitting the "quina." The incident was reported at the 17th Police Precinct (Taguatinga North), prompting an investigation.

After reviewing security footage, the employee confessed to the crime, citing financial difficulties as her motive. She was fired for just cause, and the lottery assisted in returning the ticket to the victim, as well as helping her claim the prize at Caixa Econômica Federal.

The case raised concerns about security in lottery operations and highlighted the need for strict measures to prevent fraud. The Civil Police continue to monitor the investigation for any additional irregularities.

This incident serves as a warning to bettors about the importance of independently verifying their tickets, reinforcing trust in the lottery system.
