The São Paulo state government expects to raise $3.4 billion over the next 15 years by granting the lottery service to private enterprise. The international auction is scheduled for September 13, and proposals will be received on September 9, at 10 am, at the B3 headquarters in São Paulo. The resources raised will be allocated to the health sector, according to the Palácio dos Bandeirantes.
The auction winner will be able to operate lottery services for 15 years, covering modalities such as specific games, sports, numerical, and instant games, the famous scratch cards. Bets can be placed both in physical and virtual environments.
The state government estimates the installation of more than 11,000 points of sale throughout the state of São Paulo, distributed in existing businesses or in spaces exclusive to lotteries. However, these points must be at a minimum distance of 300 meters from daycare centers and elementary schools.
The supervision of the concession and the regulation of lottery services will be the responsibility of the Regulatory Agency for Public Services of the State of São Paulo (Arsesp).
